Indiana Fever player Caitlin Clark and WNBA Rookie of the Year award
Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark has been honored as the Associated Press 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, earning a spot on the AP All-WNBA First Team and the AP All-Rookie Team. Remarkably, she received all 15 first-place votes for the prestigious ROTY award.

After a historic college career that saw her break the all-time major college basketball scoring record and lead Iowa to consecutive national title games, Clark entered the WNBA under immense expectations. Though she faced challenges with efficiency early in the season, she eventually found her rhythm, and so did the Fever.

In her first 17 games, Clark averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 33.8% from beyond the arc. However, over her final 23 games, she elevated her performance, averaging a double-double with 21.4 points and 10.0 assists per game.

By the end of her rookie season, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.3 steals, shooting 34.4% from three. She was named an All-Star and shattered several records, including the WNBA’s single-season mark for assists and setting new highs for rookies in points and three-pointers.

While the official WNBA Rookie of the Year award is yet to be announced, Clark is the frontrunner, although Angel Reese, who averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds before an early-season injury, has garnered vocal support.

As the Fever prepare to embark on their first playoff run since 2016, they will face the Connecticut Sun today at 3 p.m. ET, marking a thrilling new chapter for both Clark and the franchise!

“This is a tremendous honor to be named The Associated Press Rookie of the Year,” Clark said, via The Associated Press. “This recognition wouldn’t be possible without an incredible group of teammates and coaches, and we are looking forward to continuing an exciting regular season in the postseason.”
