The wait finally ended for South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler Saturday afternoon. Yes, after a billion picks between quarterbacks, Rattler was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round.

For those who stopped watching the draft around 11 p.m., Thursday, Rattler was the seventh QB taken this year. That’s a ton of quarterbacks, for those who are bad at math.

And for those who are really bad at math, here’s another nice draft nugget from cheery Ian Rapoport …

Rattler, the seventh QB taken, was selected a whopping 138 picks after QB No. 6, who happened to be Bo Nix.

Not great!

But, we’re not here to rag on Spencer Rattler. Quite the opposite, actually. We’re here to help welcome Spencer and girlfriend Yazmina Gonzalez to the beautiful city of New Orleans.

What a steal for the Saints!


Did Spencer Rattler fall because of this high school show?

Just an unreal fall in the draft for Yazmina, who Google tells me has been with Rattler forever. Seriously. I’m talking high school sweethearts. 

Yazmina was also a JUCO volleyball player, and is well established on social media. I’m talking over 18k followers on Instagram and another 4k on TikTok. Not a bad little foundation for a rookie NFL WAG to be starting on, huh?

As for Rattler, here’s another cheery note from Ian, who I assume will NOT be invited to the post-draft celebration at the Rattler house:

How bad was Spencer Rattler in this reality show from a years ago that he plummeted like the freaking Titanic in this draft?

Well …

Well, what’s the verdict? I reckon some will call out Spencer Rattler for being a pretty huge dick here. Others will say he’s pushing JD Johnson to be better. Is JD being kind of a baby? Your call. Maybe, though.

I despise high school kids, so I’d probably stuff Spencer in a locker after this, but I can see both sides.

Bottom line? Most teams passed on him – according to Ian – because, in part, they didn’t like stuff like that from this weird reality show about high school football players.

Their loss, though. Not because of Spencer, but because of Yazmina.
