Recent allegations that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice assaulted a photographer at a Dallas area nightclub has prompted some digging into his past.

Rice has been in the news lately for multiple alleged criminal actions – including that assault as well as a road racing incident that led to multiple wrecked cars on a Dallas highway.

But a new report from NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reveals that previous alleged criminal behavior was not publicly disclosed, however NFL teams were aware of it before Rice was drafted.

According to NBC sources, multiple teams learned in the pre-draft process of an alleged incident while Rice was at SMU. The receiver believed that his girlfriend was seeing SMU basketball player Kendric Davis.

Their sources said, ‘Rice (or someone with him), per the specific information gathered by at least one team, fired multiple bullets into the empty car belonging to Kendric Davis.’

Those same sources ‘expressed a belief’ that every NFL team – including the Chiefs – were aware of the incident prior to the draft.

If that is to be believed, it apparently did not deter Kansas City from picking Rice in the second round with the 55th overall selection.

The above incident was never reported to authorities by SMU and a school spokesperson had no comment when asked by NBC.

Rice faces eight felony charges arising from that street racing incident back in March.

The Chiefs’ receiver is also being sued for $10million from victims of that crash.

He could also face punishment from the NFL under the Personal Conduct Policy.

Rice led all the Chiefs’ wide receivers in catching yards with 79 receptions and 938 yards, only behind Travis Kelce for the top spot amongst all pass catchers.
