The Las Vegas Raiders selected tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Because of all the needs that this squad had to plug, not everyone was sold on this particular selection.

“He’s a heck of a player, but didn’t they draft Michael Mayer last year and signed Harrison Bryant this year?” CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco openly wondered.

“They have other needs. Don’t really like this pick that much.. It’s not like he’s a good blocker for their run game. Strange pick with other needs.”

That said, Mel Kiper seemed high on the decision.

“The Raiders got good value on Brock Bowers at No. 13, and I think he’s more than a tight end,” Kiper said.

“I’ve long called him an ‘offensive entity.’ He can play out wide or inline or as an H-back. Sure, they missed out on the quarterbacks, but Bowers will be a stellar player for Gardner Minshew in 2024.”

Time will tell what sort of player Bowers ultimately proves to be, but in the meantime, the women in his life already have a ton of fans at the next level.

Shortly after the Raiders picked him, Bowers’ girlfriend’s wild photos leaked out online.

Not long after that, his sister Brianna Bowers became something of an online celebrity:

 


 

 

Big picture, it will be interesting to see whether the Raiders’ bet on Bowers ultimately pays off.

Clearly the front office is very high on him, but this is a squad with a lot of weaknesses that have yet to plugged.

What sort of career will Bowers ultimately have at the next level? Time will tell.
