VANDERPUMP Rules Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney are one step away from opening their sandwich shop, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

Bravo fans have been eager to visit Katie and Ariana’s shop, Something About Her, now more than ever since watching the stars attempt to open the doors on this season of Vanderpump Rules.

In October 2023, the small business owners submitted an application for a liquor license with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal that after months of pending, the liquor license was officially issued on February 26, 2024.

The license is valid until January 31, 2025.

Katie, 37, and Ariana, 38, have said in the past that they wanted to include a wine bar inside their West Hollywood café as they plan on selling beer and wine, plus wine-based cocktails.

Apart from selling liquor, the duo will be selling their much-anticipated fresh sandwiches as well as a variety of tea and baked goods including croissants, muffins and cookies.

They won’t be selling coffee since they said there’s a “wonderful coffee shop,” Alana’s Coffee Roasters, next door that they love.

The menu has yet to be released, but during a cast tasting – featured in last season of VPR – the ladies’ co-stars tasted four different type of sandwiches: a Soppressata salami sandwich, a spicy turkey sandwich, a vegan sandwich, and a Greek salad sandwich.

WAITING GAME

One major permit is still left before being able to open shop.

As of January 3, 2024, an application was submitted through the City of West Hollywood, as previously reported, for a new 20 square feet outdoor dining area in the front of the North Robertson Boulevard restaurant.

The application indicated that the owners would be adding a new awning and signage for Something About Her.

The U.S. Sun can reveal that this application is still under review and there has been no construction to the front of the shop since then.

In photos obtained by The U.S. Sun in January, an empty sidewalk was seen in front of Something About Her after the stars were forced to breakdown their completed outdoor dining area.

A source revealed, “The front patio at that location was there for years (when it was Hedley’s Restaurant), and it was there without proper city permits.

“After the remodeling, Katie and Ariana learned that permit laws had changed and they had to take down their sign and break down the entire front patio.”

NO OPENING DATE

During her March 19 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Katie said that she could not commit to an opening day just yet.

However, she was adamant that the shop would open some time this year.

“You know that it’s coming very soon … so, very soon,” she told host Andy Cohen.

The process of getting Something About Her to open all began as far back as July 2021 when an LLC was filed.

During Ariana’s Single AF: An Evening for Bad B*tches show on January 31 in New York City, Ariana provided an update at the time, making it seem like the opening day would be weeks away.

As the show’s co-host, podcaster Matt Rogers brought up how excited he was for it to open, Ariana said she’s “also very excited.”

The now-Broadway star then shared, according to a U.S. Sun reporter who attended the show: “I just talked to Katie earlier today and we are at a point now with permitting and everything that we, hopefully, I’m thinking in the next day or two, will have official word that we can just move into the fun stuff.

“Which is actually being able to legally have the product in the actual restaurant and start getting this menu and this ordering and everything going.”

She continued: “‘Cause we have everything ready to go!

“So, like, literally the second that I have a [opening] day, you guys will know so hard because me and Katie are chomping at that motherf**king bit so hard.”

SNEAK PEEK

Aside from filming at Something About Her and discussing the opening on VPR, Katie and Ariana gave an exclusive tour from inside the shop in a video posted on Bravo last month.

Katie said in the video that the shop was designed by Jon Hutman, who is Nancy Meyers’ production designer.

“That was the whole inspiration of this sandwich shop in general. We wanted to feel like main character energy in a rom com,” she explained.

Ariana then added, “But we also wanted it to feel like us. We wanted it to feel very California yet European.”

At the conclusion of the video, both ladies said that they hope to have food in the shop that they can sell by “next month.”
