Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady launched into an explicit rant admonishing “selfish” young football players.

Brady appeared on Deep Cut with VicBlends on April 11, a content creator famous for mixing haircutting and earnest conversation, where the two discussed mental health, an underdog mentality and advice for younger players.

“I think the biggest problem with a lot of f****** kids these days, it’s all about them,” Brady said. “Their brand, their social media. When it’s about ‘me’ and then not about ‘us,’ well there’s no way to succeed as a team if all you’re doing is thinking how selfish it is for you to get the attention. The point of life is what we could do, how do you help other people finish the race?”

Brady rose from relatively humble beginnings to achieve his status, in the eyes of many, as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. A stand-out athlete at San Mateo High School, Brady opted to attend the University of Michigan, where he attempted just 20 passes in his first two seasons before leading the Wolverines to consecutive 10-win season. Still, Brady’s perceived sub-par athleticism and an infamous 5.17-second 40-yard dash saw the now-legendary quarterback slip down to the sixth round.

“That 199 mentality, it’s a good mentality to have,” Brady said, in reference to being selected with the 199th overall pick, about his underdog mentality. “If I were still playing football, I’d still feel like I was the underdog. But I don’t approach anything differently.”

Such an underdog approach quickly propelled Brady to stardom. After serving as New England’s backup, Tom Brady assumed the starting role and never looked back, setting the NFL record in wins, passing yards and Super Bowls among a number of all-time marks. Brady has also offered tutelage to a number of aspiring NFL quarterbacks, with Mac Jones, J.J. McCarthy and Shedeur Sanders all terming Brady a mentor.

Brady won’t rule out a return to the NFL

Brady pushed his career to the remarkable age of 45, setting a personal record of 5,316 yards in his penultimate season before finally hanging up his cleats for good in 2022. However, Brady hinted at potentially being open to a stunning return to the girdiron should an ownership opportunity present itself.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said. He added: “I don’t know. I’m always going to be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit like MJ coming back… I don’t know if they’d let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”
