Tom Brady has discussed his relationship with former head coach Bill Belichick, explaining his decision to leave the Patriots as one which wasn’t completely influenced by money.
The pair worked together in New England for 20 years and experienced lots of success. However, things weren’t always rosy between them, especially not toward the end.
Brady would join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent, winning a seventh Super Bowl over there while leaving Belichick to experience failure in his wake. The head coach was eventually fired by the Pats and was unable to land a job in the recent hiring cycle.
The former star quarterback was after a two-year deal worth $50 million that Belichick simply did not want to give him. It’s long been thought that the contract standoff was the reason for Brady’s departure. But, with a new 10-part documentary detailing the team’s dynasty set to drop on Apple TV+ this Friday, we will know a lot more of what went on behind the scenes.
We have a snippet for now as The Athletic has published a quote from the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
WOW.
Tom Brady on his decision to leave the Patriots because of his relationship with Bill Belichick had gotten so bad.

“Me and coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together,” it reads. “But I wasn’t going to sign another contract (in New England) even if I wanted to play until (I was) 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.”
The doc, dubbed ‘The Dynasty’, will launch this Friday, with two episodes dropping every week for the next five weeks.
Fans can expect a lot more on what transpired between Belichick and Brady that caused the latter to sever ties.
