When times get tough for Ben Affleck, he’s often turned to his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, to lift him up. They have established a close friendship after their marriage ended in 2018, and it appears he might be seeking her help again in the wake of his separation from Jennifer Lopez.

It’s a big mystery as to how Affleck and Lopez will work their differences out, but they are using their time apart to figure that out. In the meantime, In Touch sources believe that Garner has been a pillar of support for the Argo director. “Jen’s been wonderful. She doesn’t judge,” the insider shared. “Sure, Ben drives her crazy sometimes, but there’s an unbreakable bond there. Ben says Jen’s an angel and tells her she’s the only one who can save him.”

It’s wonderful that Garner and Affleck have managed to co-parent their three children, Violet, 18, Finn, 15, and Samuel, 12, so effortlessly, but some friends in their inner circle think the former duo needs stronger “boundaries.” The insider added, “They don’t want her ensnared in his problems again.” The concern also bleeds over to her relationship with John Miller, whom she’s been dating for six years.

“Some friends believe Jen should step back from Ben a bit because it might cause tension in her relationship with John if she doesn’t,” they continued. Miller and Garner have always been an ultra-private couple and they prefer to keep their love off the Hollywood radar. “She loves how little he cares for the limelight or the whole Hollywood scenester stuff… Very different from Ben and J.Lo’s relationship in that way,” an insider told Us Weekly in 2022. “You’ll never see them ham it up for the cameras or fixate about what events to attend together, it’s just not their style.”

A People source described it as “a special relationship” that took a while to find its groove. “It’s never been the easiest one though since they both have families. They took a long break from dating, but Jen is very happy that they are back together,” they added. With Affleck’s issues on a full burn, it’s probably best for Garner to take a measured approach to her ex’s problems because she has a good thing going with Miller.
