Tom Brady’s arrival at FOX will cost Greg Olsen a lot of money.
Brady is getting set to take over as the network’s lead football commentator, having taken a year off following his retirement from football.
According to the New York Post, Olsen will be moved to the company’s B team, where he will team up with play-by-play announcer Joe Davis. The move will reportedly set him back a whopping $7 million.
Olson and Davis have worked together in the past when primary play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt was covering the World Series for Fox. Davis took over after Joe Buck left for ESPN.
Olsen’s $10 million salary as the No. 1 analyst will drop to $3 million as he loses his job to the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback.
He is expected to remain at FOX unless another opportunity to be the top man at another network opens up.
Greg Olsen Flew Up The Ranks At FOX
Olsen joined FOX in 2021 and worked on the B team with Burkhardt that season. They moved to the A team after Buck and Troy Aikman switched to The Worldwide Leader in Sports.
He quickly established himself as one of the best football analysts on television.
Olsen and Burkhardt covered the 2023 Super Bowl, which featured the Eagles and the Chiefs. They have worked together for the past three seasons.
The company announced in 2022 that TB would eventually become its top color commentator. It introduced him at its Upfronts event earlier this week.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner is reportedly due $375 million from FOX over the next 10 years.
