Eli Manning has offered his thoughts on whether his nephew Arch Manning should transfer from Texas amid the rife speculation.
Manning will have to play behind starter Quinn Ewers another year as the latter has decided to return for the 2024 season, prompting rumors of a potential exit.
Arch insisted he had no plans to leave the Longhorns while addressing reporters before the Sugar Bowl in January and his uncle has voiced similar sentiments, claiming that, while Ewers’ decision was unexpected, it provides Arch with an opportunity to continue to learn.
Asked whether Arch should consider transferring during an appearance on ‘The Zach Gelb Show’, Eli replied, “No.”
“He picked Texas because that’s where he wants to be,” he continued. “That’s where he wants to play football. He likes Coach Sarkisian and his offense and what they’re doing.
“He knew last year that he was going to redshirt, get some playing time. Obviously, the plan was maybe for Ewers to go to the NFL, but he’s there. It’s another year for Arch to mature, learn an offense, get bigger and stronger in the weight room, and always be prepared to play. You never know what’s going to happen.”

Eli also advised that the transfer portal might not always be the best avenue for handling setbacks.
“The fact that you can transfer so easily now doesn’t mean you should do it,” he pointed out.
Unlike last season, Arch will be Ewers’ backup as Maalik Murphy has entered the portal himself.
